While the West’s preoccupation with rising inflation, post-Covid-19 issues, and political infighting have led to indifference, a global crisis is evolving in underdeveloped countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Diminishing food and medical supplies, rising energy prices, fragile infrastructure, and social unrest have rapidly led to growing refugee movements, destabilizing neighboring nation states, and causing regional conflict. Can the West, and the US in particular, overcome indifference and broken promises to reinvigorate international financial institutions in an effort to avoid a global crisis?
